Situated in the valley at the base of the Tenmile Range, Breckenridge has shifted over the years from a town mining valuable gold to a town whose new found gold is the popular winter ski destination of Breckenridge Ski Resort. With year round recreation ranging from skiing and snowboarding, fly fishing, rafting, hiking, and biking, Breckenridge is one of the most sought after mountain destinations in the country. In addition to outdoor recreation, it is quickly becoming a destination for the arts, events, and entertainment for the mountains.
